1* Quién es Guillermo Carracedo?

Pues Guille Carracedo es un loquillo apasionado del mar, surfista, no sé muy bien como, pero también es médico y aventurero,  viajero, le gusta descubrir olas y lugares nuevos en los que nunca nadie haya surfeado, saltar y surfear entre piedras, compite en surf y en paddle surf, solo que en paddle surf alcanzó muy buenos resultados, entre los que se incluye top 5 del mundo y campeón de España varias veces.

2* Qué es el mar para ti?

El mar para mí la verdad que lo es todo, el mar para mí me hacer ser quien soy y levantarme con una sonrisa cada mañana. Siempre estuve relacionado con el mar, pero desde que conocí el surf he podido ser quien soy. Imagínate la pasión que tengo por el mar que mi hermana pequeña se llama mar.

3* Surf o Paddle surf?

Hay que ser sincero, surf mil veces, pero bueno, cualquier cosa que me permita estar en el agua es pasármelo bien y es diversión y yo mientras este en el mar soy feliz.

4* Cuándo empezaste a surfear?

Empecé mucho más tarde de lo que la gente cree, con 18-19 años y justo cuando terminé el colegio, vi la película de locos por el surf, la de los pingüinitos y dije: (Esto parece fácil y guay, si ellos pueden yo también, jajajaja) pero no era tan fácil. Me compre una tabla en Decathlon y me puse una tarde a intentar aprender yo solo, pero tarde lo suyo, aun así con 20 años ya era campeón de Gallego de paddle surf y con 21 ya era campeón de España de paddle surf también.

5* Cómo fue la decisión de empezar a competir y a qué edad?

L a primera vez fue con los 20 recién cumplidos. La verdad es que el paddle lo practicaba muy poca gente por mi zona y a mí me enseño el campeón del mundo de kitesurf Abel Lago y el que ahora es mi fotógrafo y me acompaña a todos lados Jaime Martinez, entre los dos me enseñaron  hacer paddle surf y por querer ver más gente practicando ese deporte y por intentar medirme, decidí empezar a competir. Siempre tuve ese afán competitivo.

6* Cuál es el entrenamiento que realizas para las competiciones?

El entrenamiento que realizo para las competiciones es surfear, surfear mucho, cuantas más horas mejor, si puedo 6 – 7 horas al día. Los días que no puedo o que no me llega el día, también lo suelo compaginar con entrenamientos fuera del agua, mucho carver, mucho      surf-skate.

7* Cuál es el primer campeonato que ganaste y cuales fueron tus sensaciones?

Fue en un campeonato Gallego y era la copa de Galicia, competían los mejores y había olas malísimas y por azar y suerte gané yo. La verdad es que no me lo podía creer, fue una inyección de motivación grandísima, ha día de hoy todavía me pone los pelos de punta.

8* Y al ser campeón de España?

Ser campeón de España llegó un poco más tarde, pero tampoco tanto. Fue una sensación increíble, pura motivación y alegría, me acuerdo de salir del agua, llamar a mi madre, decirle que era campeón de España… No me lo podía creer, una sensación que a día de hoy todavía me entran escalofríos.

9*Cómo te ves para el mundial?

Realmente el año pasado fue el mejor mundial que he hecho, quedar top 5 del mundo, haber eliminado a campeones del mundo que siempre fueron mis ídolos, pues es algo que no me podía ni imaginar antes. En definitiva muy contento, muy motivado y con ganas de superar esa marca que hice el año pasado.

10* Has tenido algún susto importante?

Sí, muy gordos. Tuve un año fatídico, que es el 2014, me lleve más 90 puntos solo en la cabeza y en uno de los accidentes me tuvieron que sacar en helicóptero, llevarme al hospital, varios días de UCI, fue un año muy potente…

11* Qué nos dices de tus estudios de medicina, esperas ejercer algún día?

Mis estudios de medicina los he ido pudiendo compaginar bien a lo largo de mi carrera deportiva y educativa, es cierto que he decidido decantarme por vivir del surf de manera profesional acompañado de las redes sociales, que también hay que dedicarle muchas horas al día, todo lo que pueda y más. Aun así al mismo tiempo me estoy formando con medicina deportiva, con traumatología del deporte en la UCAM, pero bueno, poco a poco y paso a paso. Vamos a ver que nos depara el futuro, nunca se sabe y con toda esta situación que tenemos ahora mismo igual me toca echar una mano de médico, si la situación lo requiere aquí en Galicia.

12*Quién ha sido tu mayor influencia en los deportes acuáticos?

Como antes te comentaba, mi actual fotógrafo Jaime Martinez y el campeón del mundo de kitesurf Abel Lago, sin olvidarme de Gony Zubizarreta que es un mítico del surf en Galicia, en España y en el mundo, con el cual tengo relación increíble y siempre estoy planeando viajes y aventuras con él, que poco a poco vamos llevando acabo.

13* Sabemos que has viajado mucho, cuántos países te has recorrido y con cuál te quedas?

Tengo la filosofía de vida de llevar más países viajados que años tengo y llevo 37. Quizá me quedaría con Ecuador, por el viaje a las Islas Galápagos, que fue uno de los más espectaculares que he realizado, Islandia también me llamo muchísimo la atención, Argentina me pareció increíble, Australia, Indo, Sri Lanca, todos… (jajaja) pero bueno, los dos primeros seguramente fueron los más increíbles.

14* Cómo llevas la cuarentena?

Separado del mar la verdad, porque viendo olas y sin poder surfearlas se me iba hacer mucho más difícil. Pero aquí con la familia y con los perros lo llevamos como buena mente podemos, intentando mantener la forma física, la anímica nos sobra porque somos muy alegres todos. Mis dos padres están en primera línea de batalla en el ámbito sanitario, mi madre en UCI, mi padre llevando la investigación del COVID-19… Esperemos que todo esto termine lo mejor posible.
